Are you in search of the best tablet for kids?!
We recently purchased three Kindle Fire 7’s for our girls. They are ages 11, 5 and 3. On Amazon Prime day (usually in July), there was lightning deal on the Kindle Fire 7 for ONLY $33.33 with Prime 2-day shipping! Regular price starts at $49.99. If you keep an eye on the sales, you can generally catch a good deal on a Kindle Fire tablet.
When we received the tablets, they were super easy to setup. Within 10 minutes, all three tablets were ready to go, customized to each of my girls!
With the purchase of a tablet, you receive 1 month free of the “Free Time Unlimited” service (after the trial it is $6.99/mo). This gives them access to unlimited books, kid appropriate apps & videos/cartoons. Once you see what all they get, it is well worth it in my eyes!
Each tablet can have multiple profiles, similar to Windows users on a computer. You can restrict certain features, password-protect purchases and limit the browser access.
Next, and quite possibly my favorite feature!
You can set limits and goals for each child. You can require them to read for 30 minutes before they have access to free play, allot a maximum amount of screen time in general, give them unlimited access to books, yet limit their video/game access for the day, and/or set a curfew for bedtime and the tablet let’s them know that their time is up. This is great for my 3 year old, because it helps reduce “threenager” fits. She likes to say that her tablet has to go to sleep! 😉
We chose the 8gb tablets. I’d normally say that is more than enough space, but the only downside is that it tends to run out of space often. My younger two girls tend to get a little download crazy. I wish that there was a way to approve or limit the free downloads. I usually have to go into the parental settings every few weeks and delete several apps to make sure they don’t run out of space.
In a nutshell, I’d definitely recommend the Kindle Fire 7 is a perfect fit for kiddos – unbeatable price, great value, encourages reading, provides entertainment and so much more!
